For christmas, i got a canon point-and-shoot camera for school, but it doesn't give me the options and flexibility i need. So i'm going to return it and buy a D-SLR. however, like the "which videocard?" threads, this is the "Which camera?" thread.

So, i've been looking at these four camera's mostly:

Olympus E-300 (Dual lense kit)

Olympus E-500 (Single lense kit)

Nikon D50 (single lense kit)

Pentax *ist DL (body only)

I'm leaning more towards the Olympus camera because it comes with 2 lenses, but im' not sure.

To be honest, I havent actually read much about the cameras you have picked out.

I think your best bet would be to looks at www.dpreview.com
Its an amazing website that has reviews for practically any digital camera available, and has a feature for side to side comparisions.

My brother has the Nikon D70. IT's very close to the D50, the D50 just a few less features.

It's an absolutely incredible camera for the price range. Fully manual & automatic settings. It has really fast "uptimes". It also has a great FPS. Shooting sports photography is a dream with those cameras. Beautiful noise free pictures.
