Default Diagnostic Kits?

I want to have a nice diagnostic kit for working on computers, because I am tired of this trial and error crap. My budget is around 300usd I guess. I have been looking at http://www.uxd.com and http://www.micro2000.com
I have only seen UXD products used in person and it seems like a good kit but I dont want to buy it and find out there is another greater and better kit. So does anybody have any recommendations or experiences with such diagnostic kits.. Oh yeah I plan on working on computers around the house, friends, and familys comps.
Thanks in advance like always,

there are diagnostic tools out there, but generally they don't help much. you'll be better off figuring out these things yourself and getting the knowledge out of it
Google and forums are probbably the best things to use if you don't know what to do
