From a home users point of view, many people do think Dell sucks. But when you are a large company and one of your babies die (for instance, your mail server), if your smart, and you purchased the right warrenties, they will have a tech onsite in an hour or less with replacement parts.

the tech will only relise he's a dumbass and cant really fix it.

Have your own techs, you will have a guy their within 5.

If your really smart, your completly redundant as well.

Nope. Their onsite techs are nothing like their phone techs who read off their screen. These guys are very smart and very efficent. I've never seen someone use a screwdriver so well :p

But if its 2am and your sleeping and you get a message on your phone saying that a server has crashed 1) you don't feel like changing it when your dead tired 2) where are you going to get a replacement part at 2 am?

Always keep extras, that's what I do. Drink some cold water and put an icecube behind your back.

See, the difference is, what you are running compared to what these servers are running is a big difference. You don't keep extras of this stuff just lying around. No company wants to put out extra for what they don't think they need. Thats why having the warrenty is good.
