Hello.

Due to some random searches I did on another forum today, I ended up coming alongst this thread. In case you don't read it, it mentions running dxdiag.exe, looking under the *music* tab, and then verifying that *default port acceleration* is enabled.

Anyway, I went ahead and ran dxdiag and looked under the tab, and sure enough it says *default port acceleration: Not available*. Now, I've never really had any sound problems, that I know of. The machine has run, for the most part, pretty swell. But now I'm bothered by the fact that maybe it could run better, and it isnt. I've tried updating the drivers on the sound card ( a soundblaster PCI512, btw). And It still doesnt seem to do anything.

Anyway, I was wondering:

1.) Is the information given in the thread that I linked to accurate, or is the guy just breathing hot air?

2.) If said information *IS* accurate, how would I go about getting my soundblaster card to be the default port?

thanks' for any info.
