Ddr Vs. Ddr2

If I got a board that supported DDR2, does that mean it dosent support DDR1? Or are they backwards compatible.

Also, you can get LGA775 boards with DDR1. I've built several of them.

There is the new board ASUS came out with, the P5WD2, which has DDR2. So no dice on running that board with ddr1? I want that board, I want it bad. I will get it, even if I have to get someone else to pay for it. :cool:

No, DDR2 is not backwards compatible with DDR1. DDR1 uses 184pin, while DDR2 uses 240.
 
Thats what I thought. I was hoping the latter, but I guess that was just wishful thinking. :)
