A few days back I spilled an entire glass of water on my laptop, which shorted it out completely. The machine is nearly 3 years old and was on it's last legs anyway, however it had some important data on the HD that was not backed up.
I removed the hard drive from the unit and have found a "data transfer kit" (you can check it out at http://www.cmsproducts.com/products/..._solutions.htm
that seems like it may be the solution for me. Has anyone used this type of product before? It seems so straightforward, why would anyone pay $150/hour+ for data recovery services?
The other question is, how do I know if my HD was ruined from the spill? Is there anyway to tell if the drive is still valid?
