Hi, I just registered here but have been reading here for a while.
I got a HP Pavillion XG823 from a neighbor and have started upgrading it. It came with a Celeron 700Mhz processor in a socket 370 and I decided to upgrade it. A friend gave me a Pentium 3 933Mhz processor from his old machine. I installed the new processor in my machine and it recognized it as a Pentium 3 but at 700Mhz.
I checked the BIOS and it will not allow me to change anything dealing with the processor (multiplier etc.). What can I do to let it run at 933Mhz? Is there a program I need to buy or do I need to update the BIOS? The BIOS says that it was installed in 2000.
Any help will be appreciated.
