I have an old Zip Drive (100M) and a bunch of old Zip disks. I want to copy all the content from the Zip disks to my PC, erase and toss the disks (320 Zip disks = 1 32G thumb drive
). I don't have a SCSI connector on my new PC with Windows 7. I'm looking for the simplest/cheapest solution.
A SCSI - USB cable seems like the best option. But I'm a little confused about connector types and drivers. I've done a little wiki research and checked on Amazon. I have a 25 pin connector on the Zip drive, it looks like a DB-25, but on Amazon they call that a Serial DB-25. I'm assuming that is Serial SCSI? Am I looking at the right type of cable or am I way off base?
Obviously, with old computers, you had to install drivers from disk to get peripherals to work, but with Windows 7, the driver issue seems to take care of itself. Will I need to install special drivers to get a Zip drive to work via USB on my PC?
Thanks for the help! First post here, hope I got the right forum.
