Connect pc to TV w/o monitor?

I was just wondering if it was possible to connect my pc to my tv without a monitor, if so how can I go about doing this.

EDIT - the tv is NOT an HDTV, its an older model but not terribly old

Also would it be possible w/ a mac laptop as well?

umm. not really sure what its called.. s-video maybe? its like a 10yo tv

Well you can get dvi to s-video converters but it probably also has component which would be the better option. very difficult to help when I don't know what you are dealing with

yea its s-video. so i can just get a dvi to s-vid converter and directly connect it to the tv? will the sound come from the tv as well?

neither S-video or DVI carries sound.

if the TV has those red and white RCA plugs, you can get an adapter like one below

gts 512 has an s-video out. no converter needed if your TV has an S-video input.

Yea, the 8800GTS should have came with an S-video chord.
