Computer turns on, but nothing happens...

This is an eMachine 2000+ 1.66 ghz pc. When I turn it on, all the drives work, the fan starts and everything seems to be in order, but nothing happens. The hard drive doesn't seem to be doing anything. It just stays in an idle state where nothing happens. Also, the monitor doens't seem to be getting a signal either. Could this be the hard drive? All help will be appreciated.

Are you noticing any beeps during the POST/Boot process? This could be an issue with the board itself or possibly a video card.
Is this a newly acquired machine? Rebuilt?

I second a possible motherboard issue, but it could also be a CPU problem.

Did this system work in the past and now it doesn't?
