computer shutted down?

hi, i was playing a game on my computer, and then it randomly shutted down and there was nothing. the computer was still and same with the monitor but i did not know what the problem was. the computer light turned orange and same with the monitor. i tried unplugging it and putting it back in but nothing turns on just the orange lights.

the power light turned orange? you cant hear the hdd spinning? no beep codes?

Unplug the power cord for about 5 minutes, plug it back in and attempt.

If that doesn't work, open up the case, and change the jumper located next to the CMOS battery from it's original position over once notch. This will reset the settings on the board and wipe mem.

Probably will work, if not, we may have something more serious..

Possible the CPU overheated and fryed of the GPU did.

mine does that from time to time...i usually just turn off the power button on the PSU...then wait 20 min and power back on...if not...the CMOS suggestion works well

i here the fan and power supply turn on, also the cd drive turned on. im going to try to reset the cmos now.

check your motherboard manual because the cmos discharge jumpers are not always directly next to the battery. failing that look for the print on the mother board

well, its a dell. and it didnt come with a motherboard manual. the company doesnt expect home users to open up their computer....
