computer: always on vs. turning off everynight?

I was wanting to no if there are any ill effects from leaving a computer on 24/7 or turning it off every night.

The only ill effect would be a higher electrical bill, a computer is designed for the most part to last beyond what most people would own it for before upgrading.

No ill effects. It's really up to your personal preference and if you're willing to pay the power bill.

I put mine to sleep every night. I fully shut it down to flush my RAM every weekend.
