comp not booting anymore

ok heres the story, i just got my computer back today, my uncle came to my aunts where i was staying..it booted up like several times without any problems, i bring it home, and i boot it up, it says something about it not finding a mouse and the cursor doesnt move at all! then i restart, and i put it in normal mode, then this little white blinking underscore comes up and STAYS..WILL NOT GO AWAY.....PLEASE HELP ME IM LIKE DYING

duh..a little white underscore in the upper left corner keeps blinking, before, it blinked about 1-6 times then went to the desktop, i have windows 98, now it blinks forever..litterally forever..not sure if its 98 second edition or first....oh well, PLEASE HELP

im guessing somethings not loading, it boots in safe mode but just not in normal, plz someone tell me why it does that!!!
