Now, the cpu is an AMD Semptron 3100+. The actual preformance is measure by a couple factors, mainly the frequency it works at. In this case it works at 1.8GHz. Now, sure, it looks low compared to intel's, but intels aren't very efficient with their preformance thus they need to have beefed out working frequencies. The cpu you're getting is equivalent to an Intel P4 3.1GHz cpu. So that's plenty fast.
Uhh wrong. That AMD sempron is like getting an Intel Celeron at around 2.8-3.2 ghz, you cant compare P4's to semprons.

Anyways you cannot just say that it is 3100+ it is compared to a 3.1ghz intel. Intel beats AMD in certain areas, where in other areas it is the other way around.

I can build a complete computer for a little bit more money.

Ok this computer comes out to $689(S+H included)...... No floppy drive is included since you can steal that from another computer. No PSU is needed since one is included in case, raidmax PSU's work great and they last pretty long for the price.

After rebates it is a grand total of: $644(S+H included)

It is referred as a CD-Rom drive, or optical drive, not by the letter name, you have to remember that D drive could be a hard drive on some computers.

yeah the optical drive......

It does burns CD/DVD-r/DVD-RW/DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD-RAM

It will kick a$$
