Default Clueless

Hi everyone,

I have a laptop (advent 6470) that I've had for about a year and a half. I have a broadband connection and through that I got that lovely Sasser virus, and also sasser b i think. I used norton anti-virus to do a full scan and found the viruses and downloaded the various programmes to et rid of it. My computer is now virus free (i have done another full virus check with norton and it says it's totally clear). But sometimes when I turn it on it won't let me do anything until i go into task manager and restart explorer. Also it's been over-heating a lot recently and turning itself off after only a few hours of use. This never happened before and I can't find any reason why it's doing this.

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Sounds like a cooling problem or a problem with the power supply. What are the system specs of this laptop?

I wish I had a computer but I am broke!!!

Erm, I'm not great with system specs.. what exactly do you want to know? I know I need more RAM but this problem has only come on recently after this virus.

This is what I know, it's only got 20gb of space, 1.69GHz of something, Celeron(R) CPU 1.70GHz and 120 Mb of RAM.

I'm guessing the Operating System is either Windows XP or Windows 2000
A+ Core Hardware, Software Certified (May 13 2005)
the new beast...

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton running at 2.16 Ghz.
GeForce MX 4000 (mainly takes the load off the main system)
Creative Labs Audigy 24-bit sound.
Some Case from tigerdirect
512 MB Ultra DDR RAM.
80GB Seagate HDD
LiteOn CD-RW / DVD ROM drive.
currently looking at a litescribe drive at staples, due to its ability to label the CD shortly after being burned.
