Clock time changes

I have a IBM t series laptop running Windows XP. The windows time service is turned off because I am rarely connected to the Internet.

I have set the correct time in the BIOS and on the desktop numerous times, but after a few hours, the time slows down by minutes then hours.

In essence, my laptop will not keep the correct time anymore. Thoughts?

You should replace the BIOS battery because that's what keeps time.

check to see if there's a difference in the actual BIOS system time vs the OS system time too, win98 used to do that all the time and not keep accurate time at all, dont know if winXP does that or not

A T-series IBM laptop isnt that old is it?Ive seen cmos backup batteries last 6-8 years.
