My friend has given me a 1.4Ghz Duron and there is Silver/Copper thermal compound all over the cache and pads. I have tried giving it a light scrub with a q-tip and alcohol but don't want to damage the cache or anything. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to clean up the compound from inbetween the cache?

What you are using is good. Just make sure you are grounded when cleaning up and don't rub too hard. You can actually use quite a bit of alcool to clean the mess up since it will not attack any copper or plastic. Make sure you dry your part before you reinstall them. INstead of the Q-tip, just use a small paint brush available in any hobby shop (approx 1/2 inch wide)with fairly stiff bristles well soaked in alcool. That's what we use in the shop and it works great If you can, use a magnyfing glass to make sure that there is no residue left on the contacts when your cleaning is done since arctic silver is conductive.
