Cleaning LCD Monitors

When one of my CRT monitors gets dirty, i just spray it with some mr sheen and polish it with a tissue or a rag. However i dont know if thats suitable for a LCD monitor. The type that doesnt have the glass top coat, the one with the matte finish. So, how would i clean this type monitor safely?

I'm pretty sure all you have to do with a LCD is use a damp cleaning cloth and wipe. No soap just water, then dry it.

i put a cell phone in the washer, and the screen was all messed up. and then it dried out

my usb drive went through the washing machine, still works fine

if you use cleaners on your LCD it'll eat away at the screen....believe there was a kid quite some time ago that did that to his monitor lol and posted about it on here

i just used water on a clean rag, that shouldnt do anything.
