Question: 1. Are the IDE controllers on motherboards on a separate bus or do they share the PCI bus? Because I've heard that for example the Serial ATA 150 integrated controllers use a separate bus from the PCI.
2. If only SOME chipsets use the PCI bus for IDE controllers, which chipsets do this? I've looked at technical documents at the intel website but haven't been able to find a definate answer.
3. Is it only recently they've given the IDE controllers their own separate bus?
