So, what do you think?

pretty high end and pretty high priced

im guessing ur using it for gaming? o and your speakers are usless unless ur buying a soundcard

FX-55 is overkill unless u plan to play alot of UT2K4. id get a slower processor and get a 7800GTX instead.

Acually UT2K4 is one of the games I am definitly going to get.

Do you think a 3700+ San Diego with a 7800GTX would be better for gaming than an FX55 with a 6800GT/Ultra?

What are you guys smoking? UT2k4 is not very hardware intensive.... at all. I have the box right here and it requires a 1.0ghz cpu or better and a 32mb vid card or better.

I run the game on a 3200+ Venice oc'd 450mhz and a 6800GT and I get like 140fps avg during gameplay @ 1600x1200 all maxed out.

By the way, UT2k4 is only $10 at newegg.com. Or go to best buy and pay $40.

hmm...I've heard alot of mixed opinions on how much CPU power UT2K4 uses, but I don't really care. My main question is which will perform better in games:

3700+ and 7800gtx

or

FX55 and 6800Ultra

I'd say 3700+ and 7800 GTX.

you can also overclock the 3700+, since it is the San Diego/Venice core (San Diego = Venice with more cache)
you will be able to get really high speeds. the RAM will overclock well, the motherboard will overclock well, and the Venice/San Diego is a really good overclocker.

There's more power in the video card, and both of those processors are enough power to handle any game on the market right now, so the one with the stronger vid card wins. First combination

My vote go to none of the above :p

Get a 4200+ and a 7800GTX that would be the best combination.
