Default Cheap components in UK for self build?

Is there any cheap places on the internet save for Ebuyer?

I would like to do my first custom build......... but don't want to break the bank in case it goes wrong!

Likewise any rec's for doing a first build, websites etc would be great!

you can compare the prices of some parts here: www.pcindex.co.uk

the following usually have good prices:

www.scan.co.uk
www.microdirect.co.uk
www.dabs.co.uk
www.aria.co.uk
www.komplett.co.uk

just make sure you compare the prices and dont go for the first one you see!

Scan also has a today only section... its often worth checking out the bargains in there!

I wouldnt bother with overclockers mate... seriously overpriced... hey that could be their slogan

"Overclockers.co.uk we are overclocking on price!"

I mean come on lets do a price comparison

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ winchester s939 retail with fan:

Dabs.co.uk price: £129.19 inc VAT

Scan.co.uk price: £129.63 including VAT

ebuyer.co.uk price: £128.95 inc VAT

Microdirect.co.uk price: £ 132.19 Including VAT

Komplett.co.uk price: £135.00 Including VAT

Aria.co.uk price: £133.07 Including VAT

Overclockers.co.uk price: £152.46 Including VAT

I mean overclockers is over 20 quid more expensive than the four cheapest sites... Plus I trust the other sites and wouldnt really trust overclockers as it looks amaturish..

I guess people only shop at overclockers because of the name!!

Seriously if you are building a system it pays to shop around... if you can save £20 on each part then overall you will save a fair bit of cash!!!
