changing drive name

i'm wanting to add a second hdd but i can't change the drives name from c: to e: (etc). i've tried win98 and xp but neither will let me change to name. how can i change it?

Windows auto assigns the letter to the order that it comes, there is no way that it could be C: if you already have a master installed. There is software that lets you designate the exact letter you would like it to be reffered to though.

yea try finding a copy of Partition Magic, that should let you change the drive letters.
