CD rom in post but not device manager

Has anyone ever came across the problem of using the CD rom to install windows but once it has installed the CD roms still appear in the POST screen and the BIOS but Windows does not detect them at all?

Im stumped.

Double-check your cables+jumpers. Run the new hardware wizard.
