I hope someone can help me with this... My CD drive doesn't seem to be working correctly. It used to be fine. Now it can't read CDs. Well... It reads burnt CDs perfectly, but regular store-bought CDs don't even seem to be noticed. When I put in a normal factory made CD it doesn't even seem to think there's a CD there.. I tried updating my drivers but it says the ones I have are fine. I'm not sure what to do. It used to work. And now it still works for burnt CDs. What could be causing this?

Can someone help me? I have to install the stuff on these CDs tonight or my presentation's ruined....

Have you tried cleaning the lens? I don't know if it would help or not, but it's worth a try.

Most of the time, the problem is in reverse...

Another option would be to crack the case and reseat the cable. You'd be surprised what a loose connection can cause.

Or what a worn out drive can cause. if uve been using it for a long time, and its a cheap brand, these things can burn out on u. ive gone through 2 or 3 drives like that.
