cd rom

I have a old computer about 466 mgz. When i try to copy a new operating system it tellsme no cd rom drivers installed even though i do have the cd rom installed in the machine. In bios it saysunder d drive not installed Is there something i have to fill out there iinformation on cylinders etc Why isnt it recognizing the cd rom Possibly its bad I tried another one that didnt work either

did u try autodetect? try an old 98se boot disk. also perhaps you could try copying the setup disc to the hdd in another comp if you can then swap the drive back in and install from hdd then u can figure out ur problem from there

When i go to d drive in bios i see D DRIVE not installed but i see where you can put figures in there I do not see where it says auto detect. If i put anything beside not installed it gives me a error message d drive failure or something
