From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
In Control Panel, double-click the Multimedia icon.
In the Multimedia Properties dialog box, click the CD Music tab.
Verify "Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM drive" is selected under the optical drive properties

this is the help from gateway support for my audio in my cd-rom drive not working. the trouble is the enable digital cd audio isn't highlighted so i can't check it. no matter what i do the box stays he same

How many CD-Roms do you have?? Have u got the audio cable pluged from ur CDROM to ur motherboard.

If u have 2 CD ROMs the top CD should work with audio, but take a look inside for the audio cable connection the CDROM to the motherboard.

go into the device manager and reinstall the drivers
