cd drive making weird sound

in my new computer i have another issue..hehe, when i put my windows98 second edition cd in the cd drive..it would install a bit and then make this weird sound..like the cd was being burned and being jammed er something...then it wouldnt find .cab files..what are .cab files? and why is it making that sound! it burned through one of my 98se cd's! i think its dying or its just crappy! please post back

Whoa, like the laser literally burned through the CD? Are you trying to "overclock" the drive or something?

Found the problem, all the files were hidden completly in a folder called Found.001. They wereall .chk files nicely hidden by windows check disk.
