Default can't copy some cd's

when trying to "backup" my cd's i sometimes find one that won't copy. i'm using Sony NTI DVD-Maker 6.5
on some disks, the latest being a cd that came with a Linux book i purchased, when i try to copy the disk... either disk to disk or create an image it treats it like an audio disk. it starts with reading track 1, then eventually it fails.
is this a multi layered data disk? what's dif. about these disks and is there a shareware app that will read this disk to make an image or iso from it so i can burn it?

Well with alot of burning software you have to tell it how to burn. Thats why it treats it like a cd track. You have to go to the options and click the currect type of burn you need to preform.
Finished With TF.
