Default usb 2.0 device vs usb 1.0 port

can a external cd burner (usb port 2.0) plug into a computer with usb 1.0 port ?

I wouldn't recommend it. I had a USB 2.0 external burner plugged into USB 1.1 port, and I made more coasters than I did working CD's. If you have any open PCI slots, you can pick up a USB 2.0 card to fit in your computer.

any software to identify my computer usb port is 1.0 or 2.0 ?
i guess my usb port is 1.0 because i bought my computer 3 years ago

By the way, if you get a USB 2.0 port you can't use it until you update your Windows. You need atleast SP1 in XP to use USB 2.0
