Default Can I use a video card with DDR ram in an old PC?

Heres the problem. My mom has a old AMD k6 500mhz gateway system with no agp slot and 2 pci slots. I just recently installed Windows 2000 on it because she had windows ME. After the upgrade, alot of the drivers were not compatible with 2000 (VGA, Modem) so I installed a new modem. I was wondering can I install a PCI video card with DDR ram in that system? I'm asking because back then computers were using SDRAM.
