Default can a dvd writer write to a CD

Hello
I was wondering if a DVD writer could write to a CD too?

It should do, well the modern ones do, I don't know if older ones do. Put a cd in there and see if it will burn a cd.

my friend is going to buy a PC with a DVD writer, and he was asking if the DVD writer can write to CDs too.

All of them do, a bit slower than a dedicated one, but they still do.

Yeah. DVD burning is like evolved cd burning. So if it can do the new technology, it of course can do the old technology. It's like that with most all things.

Yep you can burn a CD-R or CD-RW, however you cannot "burn a CD". CD's are pressed

What do you mean they are pressed? They arent, they are written to, or 'burned'.

Even big companies that spit out lots and lots of cd's use burners. Justs lots of them, and they have ways to expedite the burning process.

CD's are "pressed" when they're manufactured, but yes, you can "burn" or write to a CD.. that's how you transfer data.
