Default Buying a monitor

Hi I'm new to this idea of buying things yourself and building your computer, and at 20 im not proud . So ... I have got the computer and I'm looking at the monitor and have no idea. I'm used to a 27 inch AOC e2795Vh. Whether this is good or bad is regardless as I have found that the quality is not nearly as good as my flat mates monitor. So I have a budget of 200 (But can push it to 300, don't want to really.) I would like 27 inch as im used to it but I think I could live with 24. So any help would be great. Also I'm not looking for anything branded just something which I can do gaming and photoshop on.

Any responses would be great, even pointing me in the right direction saying you want something with a high refresh rate. I don't know anything really.
