Hey I was wondering...

Lets say you have a pentium 4 2.8ghz processor with a bus speed of 533mhz and a mobo with bus speed 800mhz and a ram with bus speed 400mhz, would they all operate at the bus speed of 533mhz, 400mhz or 800mhz?

Does the operating bus speed depend on the motherboard or the processor?

Please do help
Thanks

Neither bus would affect each other....

Your CPU's FSB would regelate you Mobo's bus speed, so 533mhz, and since your DDR400 is below the 533mhz FSB it will run at 400mhz;)

They only time really that the FSB would effect the RAM speed is if the RAM was faster than the FSB, then the RAM would automatically be reduced to match the FSB:confused:

Ram clocks its self to ur mobo. it has nothing to do with a cpu bus. If ur cpu has a fsb of 333 with a mobo that supports ddr400 you will have to get at least pc2700 to keep up but pc3200 will work faster because the north bridge will get any code as fast as it can and the mobo draws the line on the frequency which right now the max is ddr400
