Total : around 2,100 $$ from new egg with shipping! Thanks in advance.

-Thanks for all your help!

I wouldn't get a socket 940 because it needs registered memory wich is slower

I would ge an Abit motherboard socket 939

This may sound like a stupid question but, does the FX-53 come in 939 pins?

Also, can you put a cpu that has 940 pins on a 939 pin mobo.

Im a noob to the scene so please explain thoroughly ;) .

Im on a dell dimenision 4550 right now so you should understand.

yes, u can run better memory. I am not sure though...maybe there are some 940 mobo's wich support un-buffered (unregistered) memory

The 939 Pin is for future proof. From the looks of AMD, they will stop the production of 940's. So in the future, if you want to make an upgrade I think you'll be better off. The 939 pin is about 5-10% faster than the 940. Is up to you, if you want future proof go with the 939. I agree with major on the ABIT and 939 combo.

The new egg 939 pin fx-53 is OEM, what other stuff do I have to buy with it since its not the retail.

Also, for the money im spending on processor, would it be better off to go with an intel cpu and mobo?

There's also a retail version on newegg

no, AMD's are cheaper. If you want an Intel wich preforms as good as thisone (wich probably doesn't exist) you will have to pay more

Ok, Do i really need this great of a processor?

I just want to be able to run all the new games maxxed out at high fps.

games like doom 3, half-life 2, etc...
