Hi, my friend just recently did a fresh re-install of windows xp, and now when she boots up or restarts her machine, when it gets to the Windows XP screen where the little blue bar moves from left to right, it kind of freezes for about 10-15 seconds. at first it seems that it's not going to go at all.. but if you let it sit for about 10-15 seconds it finally finishes booting. any suggestions?

Hmmm don't know. That's a pretty vague problem really. Maybe the HD is dying.

yeah.. that's waht i thought too, its an HP machine, and she has added a module of memory, a dvd rom drive, and a geforce card .. maybe the PSU is having probs keeping up?

nah, PSU doesn't 'keep up' with anything. it just delivers power...if it can't deliver the power then the system would simply reboot or power done or something like that, probably not simply cause the loading to lag right there.

Download a program called memtest86+ just google that name and you'll find it.

Use that on a bootable floppy or CD and make sure the Floppy or CD-ROM is the first boot device via the BIOS and use it to see if your RAM errors...if it does then this would more than likely be the cause of your problems.
