bios flashing problem

hey fellas. I am trying to update my bios for my kt4v motherboard. the model number is ms-6712 v1.x atx.I am flashing the bios because i bought a new athlon xp 3000 and i need to flash the bios for my mobo to be compatible. I was following the process givin to me from MSI here http://www.msicomputer.com/support/BIOS_AMI.asp
i boot from a win xp pro startup disk like this process tells me to but when i type C: and hit enter like in the directions it says "Invalid Drive Specification"
any ideas what im doing wrong? thx in advance.

Try this boot disk on another computer and see if you can get to the c: prompt from it. Of course do not do any thing to the computer, just simply test and make sure that the boot disk is working.
