Default bios and cmos...wha't what?

i just need clarity as i hear lots of people interchangin these two terms. the cmos are files that the bios uses to complete their programs? bios is a bunch of programs? that screen that pops up when u boot and enter the "bios", is THAT the bios or is that the cmos? What tha?!

as far as I know, the bios is your motherboard's application or program. the cmos is the actual place where the bios is written. I'm not sure tho.
