Next, ATI and nVidia will both be unveiling their lastest and greatest at the Computex show this year, expected to happen sometime in June.

Two industry insider sources revealed that both ATI and NVIDIA have plans to unveil their latest graphics solutions at Computex this year, which usually takes place around the beginning of June. Computex is the largest hardware tradeshow, globally.

Also, Opteron 100 series processors will be made availible on socket 939 platforms very soon, as an affordable server solution for those who don't want to buy ECC memory or expensive server motherboards.

AMDÂ’s move is aimed to promote dual-core Opteron processors in the entry-level server and workstation segments, the makers commented. The new 100 series Opterons will allow vendors to offer lower cost Opteron systems, as Socket 939 motherboards widely support unbuffered DIMMs instead of registered DIMMs, the makers indicated.

Also, both nVidia and ATI have plans for releasing 512MB cards in the next few days. The 6800 Ultra 512MB version was released today I believe, and the x800XL 512MB will be availible shortly. The results still show that 512MB VRAM is still relatively stupid to invest in, but it is the start of the new VRAM platform high end cards will most likely offer.

The new product from ATI may be interesting for PC enthusiasts who just want to have a graphics card with 512MB of memory at any cost, and for owners of big monitors that support resolutions above 1600x1200. But if you just want to enjoy the current day, it would make sense to consider cheaper devices with 256MB of memory.
