Default Best socket 939 option

Current System:

Gigabyte GA-8IPE775-G (i865PE/775)
Intel Pentium 4 530
Seagate Barracuda 200Gb HDD
Corsair 1024MB TWINX1024-3200C2 DDR
Gainward GeForce 6600GT
ThermalTake 410W power supply

Highest 3DMark Score:
7000 3DMarks

Why does my system perform so poorly??
I get crappy frame rates in half-life 2 and cs:s and almost all higher end games that my system should be able to ace, why is this?
Theres nothing wrong with my video card so i think it might have something to do with the latencies throughout the motherboard.
I think im gonna change to an AMD 64 system but am not sure would would work best. any ideas?

I think he meant drivers, not drives.

I really see no reason to replace that system, and I can't really tell you what would be causing such low performance in games, but that really is unusual.

1) 6600GT is not the best choice for Source

2) You will see much more performance with a Winchester

Something is defiantly wrong, you don't need an upgrade, you need to solve the problem at hand.

Throwing money at it doesn't fix problems, but its up to you.

3500+ should do you well, not sure about the mobo
