Default Backing up drivers

Is there a way to back up current drivers on CD? My dads friend has a PC with windows 2000 that is starting up asking for the CD to repair or replace files. This just happened to one of his other friends and I had to reformat and reload windows. Not sure if this one is that bad but he does not have his original motherboard CD and I dont want to reformat without NIC drivers atleast so I can get the rest off of the internet. Any help would be much appreciated. His computer got hosed from spyware and malware which I removed.
