On attempting to play PS3 through a monitor.

I bought this about a week ago
VGA SVGA to 3 RCA S-Video AV TV Cable Adapter Converter - eBay, Wires, Cables, Accessories, Electronics. (end time 09-Jan-10 20:29:14 AEDST)
Assuming it meant I could play my ps2, and ps3 through the computer monitor. however, today, when I attempt to use it, it doesn't seem to work. It just says no analog input detected. Help? Ideas? or is this item actually for something else?

I don't think you can do a direct conversion from composite video to VGA.
For that you need something like
StarTech.com Composite and S-Video to VGA Video Converter for Computer Monitors Video converter

The cable you have is most likely intended for a device sending VGA via rca adaptors and wanting to connect to something with a D-Sub input.

Unless the PS3 does send VGA. . .I don't know. If you are using the rca outputs that are intended to go directly to a TV then it will not work by simply sending then thru the cable converter you posted.
