Actually, I will never buy another ATI product again...they screwed me over so bad with the X800 Pro...I can't wait to see what Nvidia has to offer. Should I upgrade to a 6800 GT now or wait?

No clue, especially considering there has been absolutely NO talk whatsoever on what nvidia is planning.

I'm stepping up to the 6800GT but it's gotta last me 1-2 years

can someone kind of confirm this for me..

when they say theyve made this new chip the r520, does that mean they'll use this chip to make a variety of cards using the technology for all budgets, or will they just bring out this one ultimate card??

This new chip will be used on alot of different cards .They'll have a wide variety to choose from just like any other .From the most expensive to the cheapest .
