Default ATI radeon problems

I have a ATI radeon 9800 pro, and it won't let me install the drivers. When I try to install them, it tells me that they're not compatible with the display adapter. So I went into the adapter properties and tried rolling back the drivers, and uninstalling the adapter. Now, when I try and boot up windows, immediately after the Windows XP loading screen, it goes black and stays that way...

Boot from last known good configuration.

Check the ATi site for any driver updates, the 9800Pro is a fairly old card and the drivers that came with are probably outdated.

Hmmm... thanks. I'll try that. And, about the drivers, I'm using the latest installer from the ATI site... that's why I can't figure that out...

btw, Gaara is really cool, one of my fave characters, lol.
