News of the part emerged last month, and today at least one Taiwanese board maker finally launched products based on the new chip.

A visit to ATI's web site reveals a reference to the X800 GT, but only among products which its hardware partners will ship. ATI, it seems, will not be offering X800 GT-based boards of its own.

The X800 GT is believed to derive from ATI's R480 core. It contains eight pixel processing pipelines and six vertex engines, and is clocked to around 470MHz. It only supports PCI Express x16 connections - there's no AGP 8x version.

The Info-Tek boards announced today are all clocked to 475MHz. Three X800 GT-based, Gecube-branded boards are on offer. The GC-RX800GT-C3 contains 128MB of DDR SDRAM running across a 256-bit bus. The GCRX800GT2-D3 has 256MB of DDR 2 SDRAM, though Info-Tek states the memory uses a 128-bit bus. The GCRX800GT3-D3 sports a 256-bit memory bus, and is equipped with 256MB of GDDR 3 memory.

All three boards have standard-resolution and HD TV support, and DVI connectors for LCD monitor usage. Two CRTs can be hosted, courtesy of a dongle that plugs into the DVI port.

The three Info-Tek boards are priced at £99, £118 and £118, respectively.

Ati seriously needs to stop wasting their time

HOLY HELL ROFLMAO x100000.

And so the battle of ATI vs Nvidia, Round 10000, BEGINS!

This could mean price drops tho :D

It was obvious ati was losing the victory, so what better than to 'steal' nvidias 'idea'

I will just love when this blows up on ATI by comparing 6800GT to x800GT. Even an ATI fanboy knows their isnt a comparasion.

Next card, x800GTX

Someone correct me if I wrong but this is what I am under the impression of.

The x700 was not doing well against the 6600. The x800GT is ment to replace the x700 for competing against the 6600 series. This makes sence to me since the x800GT is only a 8 pixel line card just like the 6600 series. All the 6800 and x800 besides the x800GT is either 12 or 16 pixel lines cards.

The x800XL is what ment to compete with the 6800GT.

Actually, the X800 Pro is what was meant to compete with the 6800 GT, but it couldn't even stand up to the 6600 GT in OpenGL, so ATI released the X800XL, unlocking the extra pipes that were locked on the Pro.

Yea that sounds right cause the XL is always compared to the 6800Gt but usualy gets beat in alot of areas. Other than that its a good comparison but ATI stealing the name GT? Thats rediculous!

I agree the x800PRO was the orginally ment to compete with the 6800GT but a more fair comparison for today would be to the x800XL.
