Default ati catalyst wont install

hi i bought an ati radeon 9550 and am having problems installing the software disc. on the software install when the installshield comes up it freezes. i dont think it is the disc, cause i also tried downloading it from the net and it freezes at install wizard thing too. I use to have an ati radeon 9250 and i was able to install it properly. i uninstalled all the ati stuff from control panel before i installed the 9550 but theres probaly some manual stuff i need to do but i dont know wut. can u plz help me?!?!

Try in safe-mode. Press F8 before the loading bar appears.

If safe mode doesnt work...

a) reset your video drivers to VGA then reinstall the drivers

b) on the ATI site there is 2 versions of the new CAT drivers, make sure you are getting the right one.

c) If all else fails, reformat. Some vid cards are funny that way and require a fresh install of Windows in order to work best
