Which would be better, the latest X2 or the 64 FX-57...

Depends what you are using it for. Currently, the FX-57 would be your choice for a primairly gaming PC. The X2 is better for multitasking because of the second core.

However this may change in the future if game programmers take advantage of the second core.

The way i always saw it. amd is better for gaming and graphics. Intel is better for number crunching, more or less

Intel still does play games good. But not as good as an AMD.

If you want to buy a Gaming intel system, get the 6xx series because the extra cache does help alot.

Intel has an edge in the single core processors for multitasking, including things like photoshop and vid editing. However, in dual core territoy, AMD dominates in practiclly every category
