Another N00b Question

im getting confused (as usual) on the new 8800GT, people are saying it has the performance near to a GTX, but normaly on nvidia GPUS if for example its a 8600GTS it would be better than just a 8600GT? anyone with me? if so can you explain how a cheap card is so good

New GPU, new process, and the GTX is a 1 year old card.

But since it's newer, and they made it better, so it's better.
