Hi Everyone, it's me again!

Like I have mentioned in previous threads, I am planning on upgrading for Half-life 2 / Doom 3. I am looking into purchasing the following (I want something that will tear up games with the HIGHEST graphic settings (including AA/AF, etc)).:

AMD ATHLON64 3000+ BOX ($339)
AMD ATHLON64 3200+ BOX ($439)

(Keep in mind I have everything but cpu/mobo/ram. GCard is Radeon 9800 Pro)

I know now that the AMD64 is 2.0 Ghz. I currently have a 1.8 Ghz P4. My question is:

Is it worth spening $339-$449 for .2 Ghz? Does 64bit processing make that big of a difference in performance? And which would be the better buy for its price? AMD64 3000+ or 3200+?

Thx for taking the time to read/respond to my post!

P.S.: I am already about to buy some memory. It will be 1Gb of Corsair @ 400Mhz (Expensive, but must be worth it  )

I prefer pentium myself because I see no point to 64-bit. There is not one desktop application designed for the 64-bit chip. I would go with the intel prescott. Whatever you decide is your decision but makesure you buy the right memory. The athlon 64 does not support dual channel memory, but the intel prescott does.
