Default AMD Opteron 6 core socket F?

Didn't know these were out already. - AMD Opteron 2431 Istanbul 2.4GHz 6 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket F 115W Six-Core Processor - Processors - Servers

What would these be for? Servers? Programming stations? Heh, seems overkill. Then again that's what I said about quad cores when they came out.

For the price, I wonder what sort of performance these have. Think they compare/beat the similar price i7/nehalem models? And how about the motherboards...

yep, intel also has thier much more expensive version. coming in at $2400 - Intel Xeon E7450 Dunnington 2.4GHz 3 x 3MB shared L2 Cache 12MB L3 Cache Socket 604 90W Six-Core Server Processor - Processors - Servers

The only thing ATi can render faster than nVidia is the BSOD
