What are the normal temps for an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton at idle and full load.....I dont have the system yet but I am gonna overclock it and dont want it to overheat

thnx

its a bit higher. normal is 45-55c. anything over 58 i would be concerned too. if you are near 60 you proably have a case airflow problem. take off the side panels and check temps again.

i disagree. Your cpu will start to fry at 62. Doen't mean it will melt but dry and die like a slug. Yea some bias have that 75 shut down point and its a good feature. But still 60 or over is dangerous. It will danmage ur cpu and it will become in active and you wont be able to use it. Iv scene it happen i know it happens and iv done it.
had improper cooling and that allowed the temps to go up to 64 and it fryied

60c starts getting toasty.
70c and you start having idling problem.
80c plus and they blow up.

well uv prooved me wrong. but iv still done it so i still have to agree to disagree. but thats interesting thanks for the quotes micro
